Caesura is a philosophical quotes discovery app built for people who value reflection, clarity, and daily contemplative practice. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.
What We Collect
Account information: your email address and the authentication records needed to keep you signed in, including provider identifiers returned by Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
Usage data: engagement events such as dwell time, skips, favorites, shares, screen views, feature usage, and feature flag exposures, used to understand app reliability and improve the product.
Taste profiles: computed preference scores for philosophical schools, moods, and authors, derived from your engagement patterns.
Reading history: quotes you've viewed, your reading streaks, and daily stats.
Favorites: quotes you've saved to your personal collection.
Device information: device model, OS version, app version, and similar diagnostics, used for reliability and bug diagnosis.
Subscription data: your purchase status, Premium access status, plan type, renewal or expiration dates, and subscription management link, managed through RevenueCat and the payment provider for your platform.
Notification data: your notification preferences, time zone, and, if you enable push notifications, a Firebase Cloud Messaging device token so we can deliver daily questions.
Widget and sharing preferences: widget presets, quote queue settings, and local sharing preferences needed to render home screen widgets and shared quote images.
Search queries: when you use "What I Need," your text input is processed server-side to find matching quotes. For rate limiting, the server stores only your account identifier, not the query text. Recent freeform searches may be stored locally on your device so the app can show your own search history.
How We Use Your Data
To personalize your quote feed, the Smart Feed uses your taste profile to surface quotes that resonate with you.
To sync your favorites, reading history, notification settings, widget presets, and preferences across your devices.
To manage your Caesura Premium subscription.
To deliver notifications you choose to enable, open quote links, render widgets, improve the app experience, and fix bugs.
We do not sell your data. We do not serve advertisements.
Service Providers
Caesura uses service providers only as needed to run the app. This section names the key providers that may process personal data, not every software library used in the app.
Backend and authentication: Supabase stores account data and app data such as favorites, reflections, preferences, notification settings, and engagement events. Supabase Privacy Policy
Sign-in, notifications, and matching: Apple and Google may process data when you use their sign-in options, push notifications, Google Play, or Gemini-powered "What I Need" matching.
Notifications: Caesura asks for notification permission only when you enable notification features. Quote reminders may be scheduled locally. Daily question notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Photos and sharing: If you save or share a quote image, the app may ask for the platform permission needed to save to Photos or Gallery, or may open the system share sheet. Caesura does not read your photo library.
Home screen widgets: Widget presets and quote queues are stored locally and in platform widget storage so iOS and Android widgets can render outside the main app.
Deep links: Caesura supports quote links and widget taps so a link can open the matching quote in the app.
